My name is Terry and this is my blog.

I am currently living in Los Angeles.

I like films, music, and don't even get me started on long walks on the beach.

I don't read a lot of books, but am always fishing for book recommendations.

My parents are Vietnamese and I was born in America.

That's all you really need to know upfront.

10/22/2006: "Quick Thoughts"

music: A Certain Romance
mood: Don't feel like talking for too long . . . .

Major things are happening/have happened that deserve more attention, but here are some quick things before I forget:

Last week I got to meet Katherine McPhee at my office. She's as pretty in real life as she is on TV. Here's a tidbit you might not know about her: She owns a small dog.

I've seen "The Departed" twice in the theater now and I think it's the best film of the year (other great films of the year - Half Nelson, Science of Sleep, United 93, The Proposition and Superman Returns).

On Friday I caught a double-header of The Passenger and Blowup (Antonioni). I put off seeing Blowup for the longest time because I wanted to see it on the big screen and sure enough it paid off.

This week I want to see The Prestige and Marie Antoinette. Any takers?

My parents will be going to Vietnam for the month of November. My cousins getting married, but I have a feeling they will also be wife-scouting for my brother and I. Are there any Viet Kieu's out there that endorse this kind of thing?

I am 2 elements short of completing my Halloween costume. Mission to be accomplished this week. (No I am NOT going as Ethan Hunt).

I am very close to giving up on "Studio 60" The first 2 episodes were interesting enough, but by the 3rd episode (when they started doing skits) I found it horrendous. There are only 3 good things about this show - 1) Matthew Perry 2) Bradley Whitford 3) the DRAMATIC writing. Everything else is sub par or simply sucks. Amanda Peet is miscast, Steven Weber is horrible and D.L. Hughley is unwatchable. Why aren't Evan Handler (the bald straight guy from Sex and the City) and Lucy Davis (Dawn from the UK version of The Office) put to better use? I've only seen the first episode of "30 Rock" and kinda like it so far.

Did anybody else happen to catch "I Pity the Fool?" My boss forced me to watch bits of it in his office the other day and now I am forcing it upon the receptionist. Mr. T says ridiculous things like "This company needs some fuel-injected motivation" (referring to a used car company with low morale) and "You know what I do with couch potatos? I mash them up!" It's actually a very funny show.

I really can't wait for the new My Chemical Romance album.

Am I the only one who doesn't get what the big deal is with the The Hold Steady? Craig Finn is the American Jarvis Cocker? What a joke.

Did anyone see last Thursday's episode of The Office? The last 3 minutes were absolutely brilliant as it represented how reunions of that sort should be: civil, positive, light, humorous, andthey should end with an awkward goodbye as opposed to a false promise to keep in touch or see each other, as there's really no need (or is there?). I'm crossing my fingers for Pam and Jim and my fingers are still crossed for other things too.

Lastly, I got a new nickname here at work, but I'm not telling what it is.
