SPOILER ALERT - SPOILER ALERT - LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE OF THE OFFICE
Who watched last night's epsiode of The Office? "Business School" just may be my favorite episode of the season so far as it contained a brilliant "good man" Michael Scott moment at the end. It is an understatement to say that most of the uncomfortable/grimacing moments are caused by Michael, but sometimes those great moments of inspiration and heart-warming moments also come from the guy qwho gave us Prison Mike.
One of my favorite moments ever was on the booze cruise when Michael told Jim to not give up on Pam.
The excerpted conversation to refresh -
Jim: To tell you the truth, I used to have a big thing for Pam. So...
Michael: Really. You're kidding me. You and Pam? Wow. I would have never put you two together. You really hid it well. God. I usually have a radar for stuff like that. (pauses) You know, I made out with Jan...
Jim: Yeah I know.
Michael: Yeah. Yup. (pauses) Well Pam is cute.
Jim: Yeah. She's really funny. She's warm and she's just... nevermind.
Michael Well if you like her so much, you should... Don't give up.
Jim: She's engaged.
Michael: Pssh. BFD. Engaged ain't married.
Jim: Huh.
Michael: Never ever ever ever give up.
Well, who would have thought that Michael would come the rescue for Pam at her art show, especially after all the awkward moments between them (i.e. the end of the Diwali episode). Part of me wants to say that the moment was ruined with candy bar in the pocket line, but it was so fucking awesome when Michael sincerely told Pam that he was proud of her. Shit dawg, I almost cried myself.
And what is the deal with Jim NOT showing up for Pam's art show. I know this episode wasn't meant to focus too much on the Pam/Jim dynamic (we find out early in the episode that Pam is back with Roy and she sooo excited), but the lack of interaction between the two of them leaves out a major component of the show. I guess we'll have to wait until next week to see what happens.
Other observations-
- When Dwight pulled the bag over Meredith's I couldn't help but be reminded of the scene in Missing In Action 2 when the Viet Cong puts an angry rat in a bag and ties it over Chuck Norris's head. Needless to to say, there was a lot of blood, but Chuck comes through, gnawing the rat to death. How cool would it have been if Meredith came out of the bag with the bat in her mouth Osbourne-style?
- When Roy tells Pam how cool it was that he brought his brother to the Pam's show and that no one from the office showed up, I scratched my head a bit. Upon second viewing, it sounds like a polite diss on Jim that he's not there. Mind you, Jim had better things to do - LIKE HIS HOT GIRLFRIEND KAREN!
Lastly- when Michael ripped up that kid's book - did you notice who that was? It was David Daskal - the frizzy haired guy from Average Joe season 2. Man, why do I know that?
